Dr. Decker utilizes the modalities of botanical medicine, clinical nutrition, homeopathy, biotherapeutic drainage, and counseling to help individuals experience healing from chronic disease conditions. Many chronic medical conditions are poorly managed by traditional health care systems. As a naturopath, Dr. Decker seeks to find and treat the underlying cause of disease symptoms. She sees patients with a wide variety of concerns, with a primary focus on gastrointestinal and liver disease, hormone and mood imbalances, eating disorders and addiction recovery, chronic fatigue, women's health, diabetes, and autoimmune disease. Upon moving to the Northwest locations of Portland, OR and Seattle, WA she had the opportunity to work with a naturopathic doctor, and found that when her health was addressed holistically she no longer had the need for pharmaceutical treatment. From this experience Dr. Decker became passionate about bringing this form of medical care to individuals in the Wisconsin region.

Dr. Decker also enjoys utilizing her analytical science-based training as a biomedical engineer as a contributor to alternative medicine publications in support of evidenced based use of natural and alternative medical treatments.

Dr. Decker practices from offices in Madison, Fox Lake, and Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and works with patients in distant or remote areas via phone or online video consultation. He spent the early years of his career working in the mental health field as a counselor, supervisor, and therapeutic foster parent. He went on to complete the 4 year medical program at Bastyr University in Seattle, WA. While in attendance, Dr. Szymczak acquired experience in various settings; including community health clinics, Evergreen Hospital, The Betty Ford Center, Seattle Children’s Hospital, Bastyr’s Integrative Oncology Research Center, Parkinson’s research, and more. In addition to his focus on primary care, he acquired extra training in oncology, cardiovascular health, diabetes management, biofeedback, pain management and HIV/immune wellness. Dr. Szymczak and his family returned to the Midwest to share naturopathic medicine with the greater community and be close to home. When he’s not working with his patients, he enjoys adventuring in the great outdoors with his wife and four children.

Julie VanDynHoven
Appleton, WI 54911

I am currently a full time student at UWGB picking up pre-requisites for holistic med-school. I started this fall and will be finished with my pre-requisites May 2019. Then I will be attending a holistic medicine school. I graduated from Loras College 2 years ago with a degree in Marketing and Video Production. Along the way, my passions for natural medicine and nutrition grew significantly. The though of going to school for food and nutrition crossed my mind a few times, but I never looked into it. In the spring I started to think about it more and more after my mentor and doctor died of cancer. He had been working on a few experiments on himself and his cancer over the past 10 years. He told me if he got better we would open a natural healing "spa" together. Over the summer I was doing some research about picking up some classes for nutrition, and the universe willed it to happen with out me making a conscious decision. UWGB informed me that they never have openings in Biology and Chemistry at that time of the year, and they had 1 spot open in each class. I knew it was meant to be. If all goes right I expect to graduate with my doctorate in May 2023.
